"Maple and fir trees are reflected in a calm stretch of Icicle Creek at a point 14 miles upstream from the town of Leavenworth, WA. Icicle Creek drains the northeastern portion of the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, flowing eastward through one of the deepest canyons of the Cascade Range. The majority of the area was spared from recent forest fires but other problems such as bark beetles and heavy human use have prompted regional efforts to ensure the forest’s health."
