"The graceful curve of this spring-fed stream flowing into Lake Manly caught my attention as I looked towards the northern end of Death Valley. White salt crystals, formed during the evaporation of the lake's north-eastern lobe following the deluge of 2004 - 2005, bake under a hot morning sun. Badwater Basin, named for its foul-tasting and undrinkable water, contains a year-round spring fed pool that hosts small fish able to survive water temperatures as high as 107-degrees Fahrenheit."
